She had one brother who left home at an early age to seek adventure, eventually establishing himself as a commercial designer. Gaylene's early days in the country were to become the starting point for a magnificent career in the arts. She was an inventive and creative young woman who enjoyed a childhood full of colour, movement and romance. She was at one with the environment and open to all aspects of a creative nature. The rich tapestry of country living helped mould the depth of insight and passion we know today. Even in those early days, her harnessing of warmth, colour and space were merged in an unending output of impressive works. Life's pattern took its hold on Gaylene. She married and became mother to two children. During this time, art took a back seat while she focused on raising children and helping run the family business. It was not until considerably later in life that the threads of her painting passion took hold and demanded she regain her standing as an artist. but once rekindled, her love of art saw her spend many hours, days, weeks, simply studying and taking stock. A deluge of impressive works have since flowed. A study of anatomy proved fruitful with artistic results that so impressed her piers, Gaylene was awarded the prestigious GP award for style and structure. Gaylene is consummate artist being proficient with many forms of the discipline including sculpting, painting, pottery and architectural design. She is an observer of life in all it's forms and most of all a deep thinker with a flair for conveying her expressions in a way that incites beauty in all she does. It was during the late 90's when, due to slight disruption in her life, Gaylene was drawn to focus more on the deeper more meaningful sides of the spectrum of existence. Her paintings reflect this with a darker more melancholy feel. Her insight and sentiment have not gone unnoticed with Gaylene being commissioned to complete a number of paintings. It's an undisputed fact that Gaylene's first love is that of painting. Her art is breathtaking in it's clear uncluttered yet immensely powerful style. She has the natural ability to evoke an enormous amount of emotion from a single brush stroke. The world is a much more beautiful place while Gaylene Wheeler is in it. |
